Rhodonite

Rhodonite is a manganese silicate. This material is from Tamworth in New South Wales.

It is obtained from a small open-cut mine that was originally prospected for manganese.

The rhodonite varies from an opaque, pale pink through to a beautiful translucent raspberry red, sometimes referred to as "Imperial Rhodonite". Associated minerals are nambulite and bustamite.
